Bratstvo focuses on a high press and rapid transitions using a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to squeeze the pitch and catch opponents out of position through direct attacking movements. The team aims to win the ball high up the pitch and immediately look to hit in behind the defensive line.
In goal, ALBERTOSI acts as the last line of defense. The back five consists of a central trio where VORONIN sits in the middle to sweep behind a high line. CHARLTON and VASOVIĆ operate as the side center backs to defend zonally and cover the space left by the wing backs. ZEBEC and VOGTS act as attacking wing backs who push high up the flanks to provide width. This defensive unit works to keep the team compact and ensures that the center of the pitch is difficult to penetrate.
The midfield works as a double pivot to control the central areas. SASTRE and MAZZOLA are tasked with protecting the back five and recycling possession when necessary. SASTRE helps to shield the defense while MAZZOLA looks to drive forward with the ball to connect the defensive and attacking lines. These two players must be ready to press in a mid-block and quickly transition from defense to attack to support the front three.
Bratstvo utilizes three attackers across the front to stretch the defense. SIVORI and KOPA act as wide wingers who cut inside to create central overloads, while VUKAS operates as a lone striker to lead the press from the front. The wingers look to isolate their markers in one on one situations or deliver crosses into the box. This front line is designed to create runs in behind and use combinations to break the lines of the opposition.
One major advantage for Bratstvo is the ability to create wide overloads from the overlapping runs of ZEBEC and VOGTS. This forces the opposition to defend much larger areas of the pitch. Additionally, the formation allows for a coordinated high press that can win the ball back high up the pitch. This creates immediate scoring opportunities before the opponent can settle into their defensive block.
This 5-2-3 formation provides a balance of defensive security and aggressive attacking intent. It is best suited for matches against teams that play a high line and can be punished on the transition.
