Bratstvo plays with a heavy emphasis on defensive solidity and quick transitions, operating primarily from a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and absorb pressure before hitting the opposition on the break. By using five defenders, the team focuses on being hard to break down while leaving space behind the opponent for the forward line to exploit.
The defensive unit begins with ALBERTOSI in goal, acting as the last line of defense. In front of him, VORONIN leads the central trio, providing strength to defend the area. ZEBEC and VASOVIĆ operate as the wide centre-backs, tasked with covering the spaces behind the wing backs. COOPER and VOGTS act as attacking wing backs, providing the necessary width in the attacking phase while ensuring they track back to maintain a narrow defensive block when out of possession. This unit works together to keep the lines tight and force opponents wide.
The midfield functions as a double pivot, with SASTRE and MAZZOLA holding the center of the pitch. Their main job is to shield the defense and win the second ball. SASTRE and MAZZOLA act as the connection between the back five and the front three, tasked with recycling possession and immediately looking for forward passes once the ball is recovered. They must be disciplined to prevent the opposition from playing through the middle, often dropping deep to help the central defenders during heavy periods of pressure.
In the attacking phase, Bratstvo employs three attackers across the front to stretch the opposition. VUKAS operates as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and wait for support. SIVORI and KOPA act as wide wingers, with SIVORI cutting inside to create space for COOPER to overlap. KOPA works on the opposite flank to provide width and deliver crosses. The attackers press from the front to force a long ball from the opponent, creating opportunities for the midfield to intercept and launch a quick attack.
This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to provide compactness when defending deep. The presence of three central defenders makes the team very difficult to penetrate centrally. Additionally, the wing backs of Bratstvo create wide overloads when they push forward, often leaving the opposition full backs in one on one situations against SIVORI or KOPA.
Bratstvo relies on a compact defensive block and rapid verticality to punish opponents. This formation is best suited for matches against teams that dominate possession and leave space behind their defensive line.
