Starting Lineup

JAMA (C) · TROY · ZAID · SHIVER · NIYAAZ · SAVVY · ARSHAAD · MIKEY · BRENT · A.I · A.I

Manchester City play with a heavy emphasis on high pressing and controlling the game through a 4-3-3. This formation aims to dominate the ball and suffocate opponents in their own half. The team looks to use short passing and constant movement to move up the pitch and create openings in the opposition defensive lines.

A.I operates between the posts to start the build up from the back. The defensive unit stays as a flat back four to maintain compactness. BRENT and A.I act as the central defenders, where BRENT provides strength in the air and A.I stays ready to cover the space behind the line. On the flanks, ZAID and SAVVY act as attacking full backs who push high up the pitch to provide width. They work to overlap the wingers and pin the opposition full backs deep.

The midfield consists of a three man midfield with a carrier to link the phases of play. JAMA, who is the captain, sits in the left central role to shield the defense and recycle possession. NIYAAZ plays in the right central position to drive forward with the ball and break the lines. TROY plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to operate in the half spaces. TROY focuses on finding pockets of space to play through the lines and provide the final pass.

In the attacking phase, the team uses three attackers across the front. ARSHAAD acts as a lone striker to lead the press and hold up the ball for others. SHIVER and MIKEY play as inverted wingers who cut inside to create goal scoring chances. This movement allows the team to stretch the defense and creates space for the midfielders to arrive late into the box. The front three work to press the opposition back line and force a long ball.

Manchester City gain a massive advantage through wide overloads when the full backs join the attack. They also find success by using a high press in coordinated waves to win the ball back high up the pitch. This allows them to transition into attack quickly before the opponent can reset.

This 4-3-3 formation is built to dominate possession and squeeze the space in the opponent half. It is a lineup best suited for facing teams that sit deep and defend in a low block.
