Dynamo Kyiv Football Formation
Starting Lineup
RUDAKOV · KUZNETSOV · TURYANCHYK · BEZSONOV · DEMYANENKO · MYKHAYLYCHENKO · MUNTYAN · KOLOTOV · ZAVAROV · BLOKHIN · SHEVCHENKODynamo Kyiv aims to control the game through a direct and pressing style of play in a 4-4-2. This formation is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and use vertical passing to catch the opponent off guard. The team looks to use their wide players to stretch the defence while keeping a compact central presence to prevent counter attacks.
Rudakov acts as the last line of defence in goal. The back line functions as a flat back four where Bezsonov and Demyanenko occupy the wide positions. Bezsonov is expected to push up to support the attack while Demyanenko provides balance on the left. In the middle, Kuznetsov and Turyanchyk defend the central zone, focusing on winning the header and clearing the lines when under pressure. The unit works together to maintain a high line to squeeze the space.
The midfield unit uses a single pivot to provide stability. Kolotov sits in front of the defence to shield the back four and win the second ball. Beside him, Muntyan and Mykhaylychenko operate as the central engine, with Muntyan looking to drive forward with the ball while Mykhaylychenko works to connect the lines. Zavarov plays in a more advanced role behind the strikers, acting as an attacking ten to find pockets of space and play through the lines.
In the attacking third, Dynamo Kyiv employs two forwards in a partnership. Blokhin and Shevchenko work together to pressure the opposition back line and make runs in behind. Shevchenko uses his known movement to find space, while Blokhin can hold up the ball to bring others into play. The team builds attacks by using the wide players to provide service, often looking to whip it in for the strikers or play a one-two to break the lines.
The lineup offers several tactical advantages. A major strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the forwards and Zavarov to force a long ball from the opponent. The formation also allows for speed of transition, as Kolotov can quickly find the front two once the ball is won. This setup creates numerical superiority in the central areas when the midfielders squeeze the play.
Dynamo Kyiv relies on a high pressing intensity and quick transitions to dominate games. This formation is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
