Starting Lineup

QEEB · M.T · SAVVY · TROY · JAMA (C) · NIYAAZ · A.I · DASSIE · NIC · ZAIDO · A.I

Man City focuses on heavy possession and a high press using a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup aims to control the tempo of the game through short passes and constant movement to move the opposition block. The goal is to pin the opposition in their own half and create chances through high turnovers and patient build up play.

A.I operates between the posts to start the build up from the back. The back four consists of NIC and SAVVY as full backs with ZAIDO and A.I as the central defenders. NIC and SAVVY provide width while the central pair maintains a high line to squeeze the space. ZAIDO and A.I defend zonally to cover the area behind the midfield, ensuring they are ready to intercept any long balls played over the top.

The midfield operates with a three man midfield with a carrier to link the lines. NIYAAZ and M.T work in the central areas to win the second ball and recycle possession. TROY plays in the advanced role behind the striker to find space between the lines. NIYAAZ and M.T can drop deep to help the defenders play out from the back, while TROY looks to press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch.

In the attacking third, Man City utilizes three attackers across the front. JAMA (C) plays on the left as an inverted winger who likes to cut inside into the half spaces, while QEEB stays wide on the right to stretch the defence. DASSIE acts as a pressing centre-forward to force the opposition into mistakes. The movement is designed to create runs in behind and allow the wingers to combine in tight spaces near the box.

This formation offers a clear advantage in numerical superiority in midfield when TROY pushes forward. Man City can also create wide overloads when SAVVY and NIC overlap the wingers to send crosses into the box. The ability to press in coordinated waves allows the team to regain the ball quickly and attack before the opposition can settle.

The 4-3-3 formation relies on high intensity and control to dominate the ball. It is best suited for matches against teams that sit in a low block and require constant pressure to break them down.
