Arsenal focuses on high pressing and controlling the game through a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup aims to win it back high up the pitch and use quick combinations to break the lines. The team relies on heavy pressure to force a long ball from the opposition, allowing them to regain possession in dangerous areas and play through the thirds.

Raya acts as the goalkeeper, playing short from the back to start the build up. The back line consists of a flat back four with Saliba and Gabriel occupying the central roles. Saliba provides aerial strength and great recovery pace, while Gabriel is dominant in the air and stays central to protect the box. Timber and Calafiori play as full backs, with Calafiori able to tuck inside to support the midfield. Saliba and Gabriel hold the line to maintain a high defensive position.

The midfield operates with a three man midfield with a carrier and creative profiles. Rice acts as the single pivot to shield the defence and intercept passes. Alongside him, Merino and MLS provide energy to press in a mid-block or squeeze the space higher up. Ødegaard operates in the hole as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to find the feet of the striker or play through the lines. Ødegaard uses his exceptional passing range to connect the defensive and attacking lines.

The attack uses three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. Saka and Rodrygo stay wide, with Saka often looking to cut inside to create chances. Havertz operates as a pressing centre-forward, using his height to win the header and link up play between the lines. Saka and Rodrygo work to isolate a one on one wide by pulling their markers out of position. This setup allows for many runs in behind and quick cutbacks from the byline once the wingers get deep.

Arsenal gains a massive advantage through their ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using Rice to deny the pivot and having the front three press from the front, they create turnovers in the final third. The wide overloads provided by Calafiori and Saka make it difficult for the opposition to defend the flanks. This creates numerical superiority in the half spaces, allowing Ødegaard more time to turn and pick up runners.

This 4-3-3 formation is built for dominant teams that want to control the tempo and pin the last defender back. It is best suited for matches against opponents that struggle to play out from the back under intense pressure.
