Tottenham Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Kinsky · Tosin · Udogie · Van De Ven · Van Hecke · Tonali · Gallagher · Maddison · Marmoush · Kudus · SolankeTottenham focuses on a high press and verticality using a 4-3-3. This formation is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and transition quickly to attack. The lineup aims to stretch the defence by using wide players to create space for central runners.
Kinsky stays between the posts to start the build up. The back line operates with a high line where Van De Ven acts as a covering defender due to his recovery speed. Van Hecke plays as a ball playing centre back to help play out from the back. Tosin provides stability at right back, while Udogie acts as an attacking full back to push high up the pitch and provide width. This unit works together to squeeze the space and keep the opposition pinned back.
The midfield features a three man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten. Tonali operates in the left central role to control the tempo and recycle possession. Gallagher acts as the engine, pressing aggressively to win the ball back and making late runs into the box. Maddison plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, finding ways to play through the lines and create chances. This group connects the defence to the front three by moving the ball quickly through the thirds.
Tottenham uses three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Marmoush plays as an inverted winger on the left, cutting inside to shoot or create. Kudus stays wide on the right to stretch the defence and can also drive at defenders with his dribbling. Solanke works as a pressing centre forward, using his strength to hold up the ball and find the feet of the striker. The attack relies on combinations and quick transitions to hit in behind the opposition.
One major strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves with Gallagher and Maddison leading the charge. The team can also create wide overloads because Udogie and Marmoush push forward together. This allows Tottenham to isolate wide players in one on one situations when the opposition is out of position.
The 4-3-3 formation creates a heavy presence in both the middle and the final third. It is best suited for games where the team can dominate possession and exploit space behind a high defensive line.
