Union SG relies on a high press to suffocate opponents using a 3-3-4 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and attack with massive numbers in the final third. The focus is on verticality and creating constant pressure on the opposition back line to force mistakes.
The defensive unit starts with 82 in goal to organize the line. A back three consists of 78 on the right, 76 on the left, and 82 playing as the central defender. These three defenders act as a narrow defensive block to protect the middle while being ready to step up and squeeze the space. The central defender 82 serves as the anchor, while 78 and 76 cover the channels to ensure the team can play out from the back under pressure.
In the middle of the pitch, Union SG uses a three-man midfield with a carrier to control the tempo. The trio of 81, 81, and 80 works to connect the defense to the attack. One of the 81 players acts as a shield to deny the pivot, while the other 81 drives forward with the ball to break the line. The 80 player works to recycle possession and press aggressively to win the ball back in a mid-block when the initial high press is bypassed.
The attacking front line is extremely aggressive, utilizing four attackers to stretch the defence. Two wide wingers, 78 on the right and 78 on the left, stay high to pin the last defender and provide width. They are supported by two centre forwards, 80 and 80, who operate as a partnership in the box. This pair focuses on making runs in behind and combining in tight spaces to create chances. The goal is to use the width of the wingers to create cutbacks from the byline for the two central strikers to attack the near post or far post.
Union SG gains a significant advantage through numerical superiority in the attacking zone, making it difficult for a standard back four to track every runner. The ability to press in coordinated waves allows them to win the ball high up the pitch and strike before the opponent can settle. This formation also creates constant one on one situations for the wingers on the flanks.
This 3-3-4 formation is designed for a high intensity game where the team wants to dominate the ball and territory. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play out from the back or defend against rapid transitions.
