LASK relies on high intensity and verticality to overwhelm opponents with a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup aims to dominate the central areas and win the ball back high up the pitch to launch immediate attacks. The goal is to use the heavy midfield presence to control the tempo and pin the opposition back in their own half.

Jungwirth stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line consists of a narrow two man pairing with Tornich and Andrade acting as the central defenders. Andrade provides aerial strength while Tornich works to cover space behind when the team pushes up. Because there are only two defenders, they must defend zonally and step up to set the offside trap to prevent long balls from bypassing the midfield.

A heavy five man midfield acts as the engine of LASK. Jørgensen and R. Ljubicic form a double pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession. Schöpf and Horvath operate in the half spaces to drive forward with the ball and connect the lines. Lang plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, tasked to find the feet of the striker and play through the lines. This group works to compress the midfield and deny the turn to opposition players.

The attack features three players across the front to stretch the defence. Danek and Usor act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to create width, while Kalajdzic operates as a lone striker. Kalajdzic acts as a target man to hold up the ball and wait for the midfielders to arrive late into the box. The front three press from the front to force a long ball and win the second ball in advanced positions.

LASK gains a clear advantage through numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch. The heavy midfield presence allows them to win the ball back high up the pitch and create quick transitions. Having five players in the central corridor makes it difficult for opponents to play through the lines without facing a wall of players.

This 2-5-3 formation is built for aggressive, high pressing football. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play out from the back under heavy pressure.
