Mastný · Štrakl · Čermák · Štětka · Hošek · Lacko · Jambor · Moudrý · Křehlík · Sambou · Omotoye

Jihlava focuses on a heavy defensive block and quick transitions in a 4-5-1. This formation is built to sit deep and wait for the opponent to overcommit before hitting them on the break. The team aims to congest the middle and force opposition play into less dangerous areas.

Mastný plays between the posts to organize the defensive line. Jihlava uses a flat back four where Štrakl operates as the right back to maintain the line. Hošek sits on the left to cover the wide area, while Čermák and Štětka act as the two central defenders. Čermák and Štětka must stay compact to prevent any through balls and win the second ball when the opposition crosses. The defensive unit works to hold a compact shape and keep the distance between the lines very small.

A five man midfield provides the core strength of this lineup. Lacko and Jambor act as a double pivot to shield the defense and intercept passes. Ahead of them, Sambou and Křehlík work to win the ball back in a mid block. Moudrý connects the defensive and attacking lines by receiving the ball and driving forward. This group works to compress the midfield, making it difficult for the opposition to play through the center.

The attacking burden falls on Omotoye as a lone striker. Omotoye acts as a pressing centre forward to harass the opposition back line and force mistakes. The midfielders must support the striker by making runs into the box or providing width when the team breaks quickly. The goal is to use the width provided by the midfielders to stretch the defense before delivering a ball to Omotoye.

One major advantage for Jihlava is the density in the center of the pitch which makes them very hard to break down. The double pivot of Lacko and Jambor allows the team to stay defensively solid while the wide midfielders can drop back to form a bank of five. Another strength is the ability to counter at pace once the midfield wins the ball.

This 4-5-1 formation is ideal for teams that need to defend a lead or face much stronger opposition. It works best when the team can stay disciplined in a low block and exploit space behind the opponent.
