Malmö FF focuses on high pressing and quick ball movement through a 4-3-3 formation. The goal of this lineup is to win the ball high up the pitch and force the opponent into mistakes. By using a heavy press, the team looks to control the tempo and push the opposition back into their own half to create chances.

In goal, 76 acts as the first line of the defense. The back line consists of a flat back four with 73 playing as the right back and 77 occupying the left back position. To maintain a compact unit, 76 and 74 operate as the central defenders. The defenders work to hold the line and cover for one another to prevent through balls. The wide defenders are tasked with pushing high to support the attack while ensuring they track back to maintain the defensive block when possession is lost.

The midfield operates as a three-man midfield with a carrier to link the phases of play. 76 occupies the central role to shield the defense and recycle possession. Alongside him, 73 and 74 act as the two interior midfielders who connect the defensive and attacking lines. One of these players is expected to drive forward with the ball to break the line, while the other provides balance to ensure the midfield is not bypassed. This unit works to squeeze the space in the center and win the second ball.

Malmö FF utilizes three attackers across the front to stretch the defense. 76 and 76 occupy the wings as wide wingers who are ready to cut inside or provide width. In the center, 75 acts as a pressing centre-forward to lead the front line. This front three is designed to press from the front and force a long ball from the opponent. When attacking, the wingers look to get to the byline to deliver a cross or find the feet of the striker in the box.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves to win the ball back quickly. The setup also provides the ability to create wide overloads when the full backs overlap the wingers. This creates constant pressure on the opposition wide areas and forces them to defend deep in their own territory.

This 4-3-3 lineup is built to dominate games through aggressive pressing and controlled possession. It is best suited for matches against teams that try to build out from the back under pressure.
