Levski plays a game centered on defensive solidity and quick breaks, utilizing a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and wait for the right moment to hit in behind on the transition. By maintaining a heavy defensive presence, the team can absorb pressure and then use the width of the pitch to catch opponents out.

The defensive unit starts with 77 in goal to organize the back line. Levski uses a back five that can shift into a narrow defensive block when needed. At the heart of the defense, 76 acts as the central anchor to hold the line while 77 and 76 operate as the left and right centre backs to cover the space. The wide defenders, 75 at right wing back and 77 at left wing back, are tasked to overlap the winger and provide width. These wing backs must track back quickly to ensure the team does not get stretched too thin.

In the center of the pitch, the midfield operates as a double pivot. 76 and 77 form the two central midfielders responsible for controlling the middle area. They work to squeeze the space and prevent the opposition from playing through the lines. One of them will often drop between the centre backs to receive when playing out from the back, while the other seeks to carry the ball forward to link the defense and attack. They must win the second ball to maintain control during transitions.

The attacking unit consists of three players positioned to stretch the defence. 75 operates as a lone striker to hold up the ball. On the flanks, 76 and 75 act as wide attackers who can either hug the touchline or cut inside to create central presence. They are expected to press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. This movement allows the wing backs to push high and deliver early crosses into the box.

This formation offers great compactness when defending in a low block. The combination of a back five and a two man midfield makes it very hard for opponents to find space between the lines. Another strength is the ability to create wide overloads. When 75 and 77 push forward, they create situations where the wingers can isolate a one on one or use the overlap to swing the play wide.

Levski relies on a strong defensive foundation to launch sudden, lethal attacks. This 5-2-3 formation is best suited for matches against teams that dominate possession and leave space behind their midfield.
