Focusing on high pressing and quick transitions, this team operates with a 3-5-2 formation. The lineup is built to squeeze the space in the middle and use heavy numbers to overwhelm the opposition. By using a compact central block, the team aims to win the ball back high up the pitch and immediately look to strike with their forward pair.
DI FINA operates between the posts to organize the defensive line. A back three provides the foundation, with GANGEMI acting as the left centre-back to cover the wide area when needed. GRILLO sits as the right centre-back, while LEO anchors the middle of the defense. This unit functions to defend zonally, ensuring they stay narrow to deny central passing lanes. When the opposition has the ball, the defenders stay close together to force a long ball.
The midfield is a crowded engine room designed to control the center of the pitch. GIORDANO sits in the middle to shield the defense and recycle possession. Alongside him, ANTONAZZO and VISCUSO act as a central engine, with ANTONAZZO driving forward with the ball while VISCUSO connects the defensive and attacking lines. To add extra numbers, CARPENTIERI plays as a left attacking midfielder to push into the half-spaces, and ZIRILLI operates on the right to provide additional width and support the central trio.
Up front, the team uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the opposition back line. ERRANTE plays as a left striker to press the defenders and make runs in behind, while ISGRO' occupies the right striker role to hold up the ball. This duo works to create link-up play between the lines, often pulling defenders out of position to allow the attacking midfielders to arrive late into the box. The attack relies on quick combinations to catch the defense out of position.
One major advantage is the numerical superiority in midfield, which allows the team to dominate the center and win the second ball frequently. The positioning of CARPENTIERI and ZIRILLI also allows for wide overloads when the wingers push high. This setup creates a very compact block that is hard to break down through the middle.
This 3-5-2 formation relies on high energy to press the opponent and win possession quickly. It is best suited for matches against teams that try to play out from the back and struggle against intense central pressure.
