Starting Lineup
Pelado (River) · Teo (Boca) · Tanque (River) · Pipi (River) · Luisito (Boca) · Bigote (Boca) · Meke (River) · Lucho (River) · Coco (River) · Jonny (River) · Lucas (Boca)A high press and vertical style of play defines this team in a 4-3-3. This lineup is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and quickly attack the opposition defense. The goal is to use quick transitions to catch opponents out of position before they can settle into a defensive block.
Lucas plays between the posts to organize the back line. The team utilizes a flat back four where Lucho and Jonny operate as wide defenders. Lucho provides width as an attacking full back while Jonny can also push high to support the flank. In the center, Meke and Pipi act as the defensive pairing to hold the line and protect the space behind them. Meke and Pipi must stay compact to prevent through balls and ensure they cover the wide areas when the full backs push up.
The midfield functions as a three-man midfield with a carrier and creators. Luisito sits in the middle to connect the defensive and attacking lines, often dropping deep to receive the ball from the defenders. Coco and Bigote operate on either side of Luisito to drive forward with the ball and press aggressively in a mid-block. Bigote and Coco are tasked to win the second ball and squeeze the space in the center of the pitch to prevent the opposition from playing through the lines.
The attack features three attackers across the front led by Tanque as a lone striker. Tanque acts as a target man to hold up the ball and allow the wingers to join the play. Teo and Pelado play as wide wingers who look to cut inside and create chances for the central striker. Teo and Pelado press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition, while their movement is designed to create runs in behind and isolate defenders in one on one situations.
This formation offers several tactical advantages for the team. The high press can trigger waves of pressure that force mistakes from the opponent. By using Teo and Pelado wide, the team can stretch the defence and create wide overloads when Lucho or Jonny overlap the winger. This setup allows for quick transitions and can catch a defense that plays a high line.
The team relies on high intensity and quick verticality to break down opponents. This lineup is best suited for facing teams that struggle to play out from the back or leave space behind their defensive line.
