Flamengo looks to control games through high intensity and verticality in a 3-4-3. The team seeks to win the ball back high up the pitch and use rapid transitions to catch the opposition out of position. This formation is built to stretch the defence and create constant pressure in the final third.

Andrew acts as the last line of defence, playing short from the back to start attacks. The back three consists of L. Pereira, Danilo, and L. Ortiz. L. Pereira and L. Ortiz operate as wide centre-backs to cover the spaces left by the wing backs, while Danilo acts as the central defender to win the header and clear the lines. This unit works to stay compact and can step up to squeeze the space when the team presses.

The midfield functions as a central block with a two man pairing in the middle. E. Pulgar and M. Galarza sit in front of the defence to shield the back three and win the second ball. E. Pulgar focuses on breaking the line of play, while M. Galarza works to connect the defensive and attacking lines. On the flanks, G. Smith and E. Royal act as wing backs, providing width by pushing up to overlap the winger or tracking back to defend.

Flamengo utilizes three attackers to pin the last defender. Pedro acts as the lone striker and target man, working to hold up the ball and find the feet of the striker in others. S. Lino plays as an inverted winger on the left, looking to cut inside and create chances, while J. Carrascal operates on the right to provide width or drive forward. The front three press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

A major advantage for Flamengo is the ability to create wide overloads through the movements of G. Smith and E. Royal. The team can also achieve numerical superiority in the middle when the wing backs tuck in. By using a high press, the team can win it back high up the pitch and strike quickly before the opponent can set the offside trap.

This 3-4-3 formation is designed for a heavy pressing game that relies on rapid transitions. It is best suited for matches against teams that play a high line or struggle to play out from the back.
