Starting Lineup
MIKEY (Derby) · ZAIDO (Man City) · AZHAR (Man City) · SAVVY (Man City) · NICK (Man City) · YAAZO (Man City) · TROY (Man City) · JAMA (c) (Man City) · ADAM (Man City) · PROD (Man City) · DERCIO (Man City)Focusing on defensive solidity and quick transitions, the team operates in a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and absorb pressure before hitting the opposition with verticality. By using a back five, the side aims to stay compact and deny space between the lines, making them very difficult to break down in the middle of the pitch.
MIKEY stays on his line to provide a final layer of security between the posts. The defensive unit utilizes a back three consisting of YAAZO, ZAIDO, and DERCIO, who all defend zonally to protect the central areas. YAAZO acts as the central anchor to win the header and clear the lines when under heavy pressure. The wide defenders, SAVVY as the left wing back and AZHAR as the right wing back, are tasked with providing width and must track back to form a flat five when defending. This setup allows ZAIDO and DERCIO to focus on covering the space behind the wing backs.
The midfield relies on a three man midfield with a carrier to move the ball forward. NICK and ADAM work in the central areas to win the second ball and maintain the team's mid-block. ADAM works to connect the defensive and attacking lines by receiving the ball from the back three and driving forward. TROY operates in the hole behind the strikers, acting as an advanced midfielder to find the feet of the forwards. NICK focuses on screening the defense and pressing in a mid-block to disrupt the opponent's rhythm.
In the attacking third, the team uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the defense. JAMA, the captain, leads the line as a pressing centre-forward to force the opposition back. PROD works alongside JAMA to find runs in behind the defensive line. When the team wins the ball, SAVVY and AZHAR push high to provide width, which allows JAMA and PROD to occupy the two central defenders. The goal is to create combinations in tight spaces or exploit the space left by advancing opposition full backs.
A major strength of this lineup is the ability to maintain compactness when defending, which forces the opponent to play wide. The formation also offers great strength in transition, as the wide players and TROY can quickly support the two strikers. By keeping the three central midfielders close to the back five, the team can easily squeeze the space and deny the turn to opposing playmakers.
This 5-3-2 formation is a resilient setup designed to frustrate superior ball carriers. It is best suited for matches against heavy possession teams where the goal is to defend deep and strike on the counter.
