Starting Lineup

Douvikas · Baturina · Paz · Kühn · Perrone · Da Cunha · Valle · Caqueret · Ramón · D. Carlos · Butez

Como looks to control the game through high possession and heavy central concentration with a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup aims to dominate the middle of the pitch by packing the center and forcing the opponent to play around them. The team builds play to overwhelm the opposition through passing combinations in tight spaces, looking to pin the last defender with high numbers.

Butez starts in goal to manage the space behind the defenders. The defensive unit relies on a narrow two man line consisting of D. Carlos and Ramón. These two central defenders act as the foundation, needing to stay alert to cover the space left behind as the midfield pushes forward. Because Como uses only two defenders, D. Carlos and Ramón must be prepared to defend in wide areas or step up to intercept passes before the opposition can exploit the flanks.

The midfield is the heart of this formation, operating as a five man unit that controls the tempo. Valle and Caqueret form a double pivot to shield the two central defenders and recycle possession. Perrone and Da Cunha operate in the half spaces to connect the defensive line to the attack, often driving forward with the ball to create overloads. Paz plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, tasked to find the feet of the striker and play through the lines to break the opposition block.

In the attacking phase, Como utilizes three attackers to stretch the defense. Baturina and Kühn act as wide wingers, with Baturina staying left and Kühn staying right to provide width. They can cut inside to create space for the midfielders or stay wide to deliver crosses. Douvikas plays as a lone striker, acting as a focal point to hold up the ball and wait for the midfield to arrive late into the box. This front three works to press the opposition back line, forcing long balls that the central defenders can win.

A primary strength for Como is the numerical superiority in midfield, which allows them to dominate the ball and dictate the game. The presence of five players in the middle makes it difficult for opponents to find passing lanes through the center. Another advantage is the ability to create wide overloads, as the combination of wide midfielders and central players can quickly shift play to isolate attackers in one on one situations.

This 2-5-3 formation is designed for a team that wants to squeeze the space and dominate through ball retention. It is best suited for matches against opponents who sit deep and struggle to handle heavy central pressure.
