MIKEY (Derby) · ZAIDO (Man City) · AZHAR (Man City) · SAVVY (Man City) · BAIDIE (Man City) · YAAZO (Man City) · TROY (Man City) · JAMA (c) (Man City) · ADAM (Man City) · NICK (Man City) · DERCIO (Man City)A heavy emphasis on defensive stability and quick transitions defines this team, operating within a 5-3-2 formation. The lineup aims to sit deep and deny space in the middle, waiting to catch the opposition out when they lose the ball. This formation is built to play a direct style where the team can absorb pressure before hitting the opponent in behind.
MIKEY stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back five features YAAZO at the center of the defense to act as the main stopper, flanked by ZAIDO and DERCIO. DERCIO and ZAIDO provide cover for the central area, while AZHAR and SAVVY operate as attacking wing backs. AZHAR pushes high to provide width on the right, while SAVVY does the same on the left. The defensive unit works to hold a low block and force the opponent to the flanks.
The midfield operates as a three man midfield with a carrier to link the lines. BAIDIE and ADAM sit in the middle to protect the defense and win the second ball. ADAM looks to drive forward with the ball to transition from defense to attack. TROY plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to find pockets of space between the lines. TROY moves into the half spaces to create chances, while BAIDIE and ADAM work to compress the midfield when the team loses possession.
The attack uses a two forwards in a partnership to stretch the opposition. JAMA (C), the captain, leads the line as a pressing centre-forward to force the opposition back line into mistakes. NICK plays alongside him, looking to make runs in behind the defenders. The two strikers combine in tight spaces to pull defenders out of position. When the team wins the ball, the forwards press from the front to trigger a press, allowing the wing backs to provide crosses from the wide areas.
This formation offers clear tactical advantages. The team can achieve compactness when defending by squeezing the space between the lines. There is a high potential for speed of transition when the wing backs, AZHAR and SAVVY, push forward to join the attack. This creates wide overloads that can catch a retreating defense off guard.
This 5-3-2 formation is a robust way to stay solid and strike on the break. It is best suited for matches against teams that dominate possession and require a disciplined unit to deny them space.
