Starting Lineup

B ira · M nur · Iwa · Bastian · Beta · Kevin · Aik · Ucup · Bangak · Riski · Danang

Arema focuses on a high press and quick transitions using a 4-3-3. This formation is built to squeeze the space in the opposition half and win the ball back high up the pitch. The team looks to move the ball forward through the thirds as soon as they regain possession to catch the opponent off balance.

Iwa plays between the posts to organize the back line. The defense operates with a flat back four where Bastian acts as a left back to provide width and Beta plays as the right back. In the middle, B ira and M nur form the central pairing to defend the box. B ira is tasked to win the header and M nur must cover the space behind the full backs when they push up. The unit works to hold the line and keep the distance between the defenders and midfielders small.

The midfield consists of a three-man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten. Ucup and Kevin work to win the second ball and recycle possession to maintain control. Ucup often moves to protect the defense while Kevin drives forward with the ball to connect the lines. Aik plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to find the feet of the striker and play through the lines. This group works to compress the midfield and prevent the opposition from playing through the center.

The attack is built around a lone striker, Riski, who acts as a pressing centre-forward to force a long ball from the defenders. Bangak and Danang operate as wide wingers who stretch the defence by hugging the touchline. Bangak looks to get to the byline and whip it in, while Danang prefers to cut inside to create threats from the half-spaces. This front three works to pin the last defender and create runs in behind through quick combinations.

Arema gains a major advantage through the ability to press high in coordinated waves. This puts immense pressure on the opposition goalkeeper and defenders to clear the lines under duress. The formation also allows for wide overloads when Bastian and Beta overlap the winger to create two on one situations. These movements force the opposition to shift wide and leave gaps in the center for Aik to exploit.

This 4-3-3 lineup is designed for a high intensity game where winning the ball high is the priority. Arema will find success against teams that struggle to play out from the back or those that leave large spaces behind their defensive line.
