Santander · Sandoval · Bechtholdt · C. Moreno · An. Castillo · C. Yanis · B. Carvallo · J. Fuentes · Jp. Morales · S. Pino · J. Brea

Cobresal relies on a direct and vertical identity through a 4-4-2. This formation is built to play with speed in transition and quick movements between the lines to catch opponents out of position. The lineup aims to maintain a compact block when out of possession before looking to hit in behind on the transition.

Santander guards the goal as the lone goalkeeper. In front of him, the defensive unit operates in a flat back four. Bechtholdt and C. Moreno act as the central defenders, where Bechtholdt provides aerial strength and C. Moreno works to cover the space behind. Sandoval operates as the right back, looking to provide width, while An. Castillo plays as the left back to help manage the flank. The back line works to hold the line and keep the distances between players tight.

The midfield is organized as a four man unit designed to control the central areas. B. Carvallo and J. Fuentes form a central pairing to compete for the second ball and protect the defense. B. Carvallo often looks to drive forward with the ball to link the lines, while J. Fuentes works to win it back in a mid block. On the flanks, C. Yanis and Jp. Morales occupy the wide areas to provide service and track back when the team loses the ball. This midfield group works to compress the space between the lines and force the opposition wide.

Cobresal utilizes a two man strike partnership to lead the attack. S. Pino and J. Brea operate as the two forwards, often working in combinations to pull the defenders out of position. J. Brea acts as a presence to hold up the ball, allowing S. Pino to make runs in behind the defensive line. The wingers, C. Yanis and Jp. Morales, often look to cross or cut back to the strikers. When the team wins the ball high up the pitch, these attackers immediately press the opposition back line to force a mistake.

One major advantage of this 4-4-2 is the ability to press in pairs across the pitch, making it difficult for opponents to play through the middle. The formation also offers great compactness when defending in a mid block, which limits the space for the opposition to operate. Cobresal can also use the wide areas to create overloads by having the full backs like Sandoval and An. Castillo push up to support the midfielders.

This formation provides a solid platform for a team that wants to strike quickly on the break. It is best suited for games against possession heavy opponents where Cobresal can sit deep and counter at pace.
