Lineup (4-2-3-1)

A very low defensive line with Toulalan and Diarra acting as holding central defensive midfielders, with Toulalan also acting as a playmaker working with Nasri to get the ball imaginatively into the final quarter. Toulalan and Diarra can also work together to move the ball up and pass to the wings or the centre.

Either Malouda or Ribery can run down the wings and move up to work with Nasri and Benzema to score or independently shoot. Evra and Sagna run up to support Ribery or Malouda, usually resulting in a pass to the defensive midfielders, or a long pass up field to the wingers.

A defensive formation that requires some imagination in the attack to succeed, and should be played in a very organised play style, with short quick passes between players and a well timed dribble, pass and shot finalising an attack.
