Liverpool Football Formation
Lineup (4-1-3-2)
Reina · Agger · Skrtel · Enrique · M. Kelly · Adam · Gerrard · G. Johnson · Maxi · A. Carroll · L. SuarezReina in goal is a given.
The CB partnership of Skrtel and Agger has proven really effective so far this season and only seems to be getting stronger.
Enrique is a must, he's been Liverpools signing of the season so far.
I've chosen Martin Kelly over Glen Johnson at right back is because I believe he offers some better defensive qualities than Glen.
Adam has been a bit hit and miss this season, but while Lucas is still injured I think there's room in the team for him. When he's on form he can be one of the best passers of the ball. Has some great vision as seen when he set up the winner against Chelsea.
As long as Gerrard is fit he needs to be playing. While others have been miss-firing lately he's probably the biggest attacking threat at the moment.
Alongside him I've opted for Maxi Rodriguez and Glen Johnson. I've always rated Maxi highly and think he has that South American flair and skill to create some great chances. Also seems to up his game when playing alongside Suarez.
Glen Johnson as a right-midfielder/winger is something I'd like to see. For me I don't see Glen as a defender, he always seems more confident when going forward and does seem to be at fault for a fair share of goals conceded. With Kelly dealing with defensive duties on that side Glen will have the freedom to go forward with, hopefully, results like the winner against Chelsea.
Suarez, while available has to play. While he's not had much luck finishing lately he oozes skill.
Carroll hasn't been great so far. But he's young and I believe with more games will turn out to be an important player for the club (much like how Lucas' Liverpool career started). Hopefully he'll be able to benefit from Gerrard's presence and start banging in some goals that we know he can do from his time at Newcastle.
For the first time in quite some time Liverpool have many players worthy of playing. Which allows the team to have a strong bench and options for rotation.
Bellamy has been great since returning and can easily play in either striker or attacking midfield roles when needed. Kuyt, despite his age starting to show a bit, will always give 100% and like Bellamy is able to slot into striker or midfield roles when needed. The pair are great backup players, or super subs.
Downing may not have lived up to his price tag yet but he's played some good football that, if it wasn't for super goalies arriving to Anfield, would surely have lead to a number of goals and assists. He's a good option to have that can play on either wing or even in the CAM role.
Henderson hasn't had much time to prove himself but when he has he's done a good job. Willing to play on the wings but strongest in the middle. A good option.
Spearing an Shelvey too offer options for the midfield. The latter showing during his short spell with Blackpool that he has goals in him.
Plenty of options and a great selection of players. Sadly not getting the results we've deserved so far this season. With a bit of refining (and a hint of luck) things can start improving quickly. A Top 4 finish isn't as unrealistic as some thought at the start of the season.
