This is what I would do:

Formation (3-3-1-2-1)

I would play with three Centre-backs with the flanks right/left covered by RDM and LDM without the ball.

The DM/CM will play a deep lying role in front of the Centre-backs without the ball to give the RDM and LDM time to get back and defend flanks.

RDM, DM and LDM will all be able to feed quick ball to AM/CAM/CF to hit teams on the break.

With the ball the RDM and LDM can attack their respective flanks while providing cover for each other, this will be when one is up the pitch in an advanced attacking role.

The Formation will not only give the CAM, AM and CF creative license but also the ability to interchange while covering each other in defensive situations.

Furthermore by allowing the RDM/LDM to attack flanks with quick ball would create more bodies i.e. AM, CAM, ST, CF in the box.

Finally this formation will also help over run and dominate midfield.

By playing three CBs, 1 DM and two wide DMs who can also attack will not only make us hard to break down but will also make us very dangerous on the counter.
