i kind of agree with the original post old fashioned wingers are becoming out dated and against teams like Barcelona and Real madrid we'll get crowded out hands down in the midfield thats why the formation italy played was of great interest to me, the 4-3-1-2 is an interesting formation.


in this formation possesion would be the key and a there would be a sense of Total football as there would be constant changing of position in midfield and attack plus either Rooney or Welbeck could drop to make it a 5 man midfield also having valencia and evra at fullback will give us that extra width we would desire with Carrick dropping to form a 3man defence.
