Lineup (4-1-4-1)

It's hard to describe what I'd call this formation, it is somewhere in between the original Mourinho 4-3-3 and a 4-1-4-1. With Chelsea trying to play a more fluid passing game, it will be down to the central midfielders to keep the ball ticking. Mikel, Lampard, Essien et al. aren't conducive to that style of play, they thrived on the physical side of the game but the new look Chelsea will need a player who can disrupt and distribute in Romeu. I see a lot of potential for fluidity with the 4 ahead with Ramires and Hazard capable of tucking in just as Oscar and Mata are able to occupy the wings and the four I've selected with the exception of Marin in for Ramires are the most creative in order to provide Torres with chances galore. The back four are stable and with David Luiz, Chelsea have a defender that can start attacks from the back but there will need to be improvements from recent pre season performances from the defence as a whole.
