I chose this formation because it is a very simple formation, that is used correctly, will be effective. A strong, solid, and smart defense is required with the back four. Two smart, technically useful midfielders are mandatory because they are the engine of this team and two of them is useful because it creates space simply by eliminating an extra midfielder in the middle and placing an extra player up forward. This midfield could also feature one attacking midfielder and one defensive midfielder, while one goes on the attack in the opponents third, the other lurks behind as a back door pass and eternal option to wingers, forwards, and of course the other midfielder. The two strikers can be very useful as long as they are smart and technically useful. The two strikers are useful to wingers, midfielders, and wing-backs because they can always drop into the middle third and present an option to the wing-backs, they can be useful to the midfielders because they use their creativity to open up space for the midfielders to dribble into, present options for clever runs, one-twos, and make runs behind the defense. They can make runs to the corners for wingers on the ball, as long as they see it early and react quick. Two strikers unclog the midfield by having two upfront while also having one come back occasionally and one speedy player up front, ready to make runs and make passes behind the opposing defense to either the other striker, winger, or midfielder.
