Manchester United Formation 2012

Manchester United Football Formation

Lineup (4-4-2)

Hernandez · Van Persie · Nani · Giggs · Carrick · Cleverly · Rafael · Evra · Ferdinand · Evans · Lindegaard

I love 4-4-2 and I'm a firm believer in the fact that teams who play 4-5-1/4-3-3/4-2-3-1/4-4-1-1 acore fewer goals and create less chances.

I also believe that the fullbacks are one of the most important players in this formation and the support the fullbacks get from central midfielders, wingers and forwards is vital.

Having two forwards brings a lot more support for the wingers and overlapping fullbacks and creates a much more threatning wideplay.

I'm a United supporter and I really loathe the formation we've been using lately. We saw it fail miserably against Everton, Southampton and Liverpool, but for some reason we stick to it.

I cannot fathom why and it was easy to see, especially in the game against Soton, how much more effective 4-4-2 is. I know we should be able to master different formations so that the team can adapt to different opposition, but I also firmly believe that we should have 4-4-2 as our standard formation.
