Milan desperately need their potent looking attacking prowess to capitalise on their strength. This formation provides their instrumental playmaker Antonio Cassano multiple options to create for and with Pirlo and Boetang back-tracking him, there is plenty of room to cover.

There is a scope for Pirlo to be involved into the build-up and should the need arise, play alongside Cassano to lure the defense into interplay. Boetang has the toughest job to do in this formation but given his energy, pace and work-ethic he is the right man for this job.

There is not much of chop and change in the defense and the best men are all patrolling from their tried and tested positions.
