A 4-3-3 formation similar to that of peps barcelona side. The idea here is to adhere to the ball retention strategy that BR too likes to employ. The biggest question mark was around who would play that false no.9 role that messi plays in and it was a difficult choice to make, trying to pick between suarez and gerrard. in the end i opted for gerrard as i felt although suarez is able to fashion chances all on his own (something that is pretty much required for that role) he does have the tendency to miss alot of them. Also his work rate on the flank would help to retaining possession higher up the field, similar to how pedro or villa operate at barca. However, putting gerrard in that role was not too comforting since he is no longer that player who is able to make those surging runs, but he still does possess those long range shots aswell as being able to dictate the tempo which would be very useful.
