Liverpool Football Formation
Lineup (4-2-3-1)

The reason behind the 4-2-3-1 formation I have chosen is to hopefully enable Liverpool to maintain more ball possession during the 90 minutes as well as help Liverpool create more goal scoring opportunities. Out of the 10 games Liverpool had played so far, they have managed to hold on to a great amount of ball possession in most of their games. However, the main reason why Liverpool are still seeing themselves sitting on the 10th position on the Premier League table is because they are unable to create many goal scoring opportunities despite the amount of ball possession that they have. Therefore, I chose the 4-2-3-1 Formation as the ideal formation to suit the Liverpool squad.
When Liverpool have ball possession and are trying to create goal scoring opportunities:
Downing and Wisdom would move upfield to join up with the 5 midfielders - Gerrard, Suso, Assaidi, Lucas and Allen. Therefore, this would enable Liverpool to maintain much more ball possession as the ball now can be circulated around 7 Liverpool players playing in the midfield role.
Assaidi and Suso would be able to cut in and take shots at goal since Assaidi is a right-footed player and is playing in the left wing, and Suso is a left-footed player that is playing in the right wing.
Steven Gerrard would be a key figure in contributing to the number of goal scoring opportunities as he is more than capable to swing in many curling crosses as well as play many killer passes and through balls.
When Liverpool lost ball possession and are defending against the opposing team:
Downing and Wisdom will return back to their original positions as left back and right back respectively. Lucas and Allen would help out with the Liverpool defence by moving back and play in a defensive midfield position. Therefore, there would be 6 Liverpool players working at the Liverpool defence trying to deny the opposing team of any goal scoring opportunities and to get back ball possession as quickly as possible for a counter attack.
