Not having world class wingers is not what Manchester United are known for - the likes of Giggs, Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo having played wide. But Nani's uncertain future along with inconsistent performances from Valencia and Young really doesn't bode well for the flanks. With Kagawa's presence now the diamond can be given a try, with Rooney not bearing the pressure of the CAM, since that is the prospect Kagawa relishes.
Also, the U-21 skipper Petrucci needs to be given a start. He has impressed with his displays in the U-21 side and deserves to become a squad player if not a first team guy yet.

Carrick as the holding midfielder, and De Gea in goal - both have done reasonably well this season and have only improved as the season's progressed.

Anderson - injuries not withstanding - can be very creative . Rafael's been terrific and Jones seems to be the only replacement for the fading great Evra.
