Brazil "Runners-Up XI" (1998)

Brazil was the most fancied team in the World Cup 1998, and was evidently the crowd favourite, with Ronaldo being World's best player, dazzling with an imperious form. Little did the host France expect even in the final, even after having exceptional talents like Zidane and Henry in their ranks.
However a mysterious illness coupled with a nervous breakdown nullified Ronaldo in that ill-fated final, and although he appeared, but that was hardly the player Ronaldo playing.

Brazil lost 3-0 to a brilliant France. A lot of people argued about not including the brilliant Romário, saying that Romário-Ronaldo strike pair could have defeated any defense in the world. However, the results will say Brazil as the runners-up - something that is not fair. Ronaldo finally avenged his own fears 4 years later in 2002 World Cup and triumphantly returned as World Champion for Brazil.
