Brazil Football Formation
Lineup (3-4-1-2)
Marcos · Lúcio · Roque Júnior · Edmílson · Kléberson · Gilberto Silva · Cafu (c) · Roberto Carlos · Ronaldinho · Ronaldo · Rivaldo Brazil "Victorious" XI (2002)
The attacking trio of Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho displayed the brilliant brand of Samba football, that hypnotised the Footballing world once more. The ease with which Brazil brushed aside their opponents was unprecedented in the modern football. Football once again witnessed the celebration of skills after the times of Pelé, Maradona, Beckenbauer, Zico and Garrincha.
This is perhaps the only team in the modern history of Football where just best players were just allowed to collaborate, create and play. No wonder they brought back the goal fests that deserted World Cup for some time. To quote that Brazil of 2002 was a joy to watch is an understatement.
However, the biggest gain of 2002 World Cup is the return of Ronaldo, following his career-threatening knee-injury. Although he was no more at the caliber of his Barcelona and Inter days, still Ronaldo was head and shoulders ahead of the rest. Thus, he rightly ended the tournament being the top scorer scoring 8 goals, with 2 in the final.
