Led by the irrepressible Johan Cruijff, the foremost exponent of Total Football, as envisioned by Viktor Maslov and later by Rinus Michels, the dutch team played an attractive blend of Football, and they defeated Brazil, Argentina and others quite effortlessly, only to be denied in the final by the determined Germany led by another legend Beckenbauer.

Despite their loss in the final, the Dutch team captured the imagination of the World, and made fans all over.
