Manchester United Football Formation
Lineup (4-2-3-1)
David De Gea · Patrice Evra · Rio Ferdinand · Nemanja Vidic · Rafael Da Silva · Michael Carrick · Anderson · Wayne Rooney · Shinji Kagawa · Danny Welbeck · Robin Van PersieUnited's natural wingers are not in great form at the moment, all are below par. Antonio Valencia is struggling, Nani blows hot and cold and Ashley Young is out injured. Thus, the shift in play from the traditional 4-4-2 to the new 4-2-3-1. De Gea is my first choice as goal-keeper despite of all the criticisms he has witnessed. The defence is pretty much as one would expect. Robin Van Persie plays as the focal point with Shinji Kagawa behind him which is his most suited position. Wayne Rooney is not exactly a left winger but will make runs on the left and switch positions with Kagawa as and when required. Example - The goal against Fulham was due to his run from the left, cutting in and shooting from his right foot. Danny Welbeck has excellent ball control and can control the right channel offensively and defensively with Rafael. Carrick sits deep like he has always done. I give Anderson the nod over Cleverey due to that extra burst of space that he has and can also make runs and link-up play with Rooney and Kagawa.
