Higuain is best played off the last defender, and therefore off the CF. Giroud's ability to hold up play and win long balls will be much more useful with a forward playing off his shoulder. Cazorla right behind with Walcott and Podolski making outside in runs allowing the fullbacks to move up field. This is in essence the same formation with a shift of the number 10 to off the shoulder rather than playing behind and level with the other CAM. It is much more offensive and allows for a great deal of build up and quick link up play allowing the forwards to push into the box with numbers without giving up open space for the counter.
