Brazil - "Confederations Cup Champion" XI (1997)
---------------------------------------------------------------

The first Confederations Cup, which was a a FIFA effort to arrange a tournament for all the Continental champions to arrive at a Face-Off, with the Host, and the World Cup winner filling up the 8-team slots.

Thus, the 1997 Confederations Cup witnessed perhaps the most anticipated attacking pair in the World Football in action for the first time in a FIFA Tournament. Romário and Ronaldo, formed a deadly pair, and regularly hunted down every opposition available. Romário was already an established superstar and a deadly goalscorer, while Ronaldo was justifying his tag as the World's best player after Pelé and Maradona; as even in his tender age of 19, he showed all the traits of being an exceptional talent. Later Ronaldo would go on to become the greatest Striker in the history of Football, but this was the early glimpse one could get at the reigning superstar of World Football.

The 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup Final was a football match to determine the winners of the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup. The match was held at King Fahd II Stadium, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on 21 December 1997 and was contested by Brazil and Australia. Brazil won the match 6–0.

In the final, both Romário and Ronaldo scored their hattricks as Brazil routed a clueless Australia team. And the world witnessed the abundant power of the World Champion Brazil, as their deadly attacking duo of Romário and Ronaldo, caused terrors in all opponents.
