Arsenal Football Formation
Lineup (4-2-3-1)
Shez/GK · Mertesaker/CB · Koscielny/CB · Gibbs/Monreal · Jenkinson/Berlin · Wilshere/Arteta/Zealem · Ramsey/Flamini/cm · Chamberlin/Gnarby · Ozil/Eisfield · Walcott/Miyachi · Giroud/ST/Apkom/SanogoArsenal future positional breakdown
Goalkeeper long term is kind of sorted, at the least Shezza is a good number 2, experienced backup for him would be nice
Rightback
Jenkinson should be good enough in the next few years and Berlin looks really promising as an undertudy, Sagna can hang around till berlin is good enough.
Centreback
Because of Mertesakers style he should be good for a few more years, him and kosc can partner for a while, I dont see Vermealen staying so backups and up comers are needed at Centreback position.
Leftback
Gibbs looks set to have it locked down with Monreal in there too, they both have years in them, an up and comer as a third choice in the youthranks would be nice.
Defensive mid/ Deep lying playmaker
Wilshere will have to develop into this role, Arteta does not have long left, Zealem looks promising, although he is a fabregas type he potentially has great physical qualities and would make a perfect modern deep playmaker
Box to box /Defensive mid
Ramsey so far this season is the guy, Flamini has a few more years in him, if Frimpong/Coquelin really up there game they could come and claim a backup spot but this is more and more unlikley
Left mid/Playmaker
I dont see podolski sticking around, he has been okay, Carzola could take this spot but I dont see him holding it for too long, he can stick around to be the new rosicky, long term it is Ox chambos spot, with Gnarby up and coming
Playmaker/ Attacking mid
Ozil wont go anywhere, Eisfield looks like a similar type player and could be a good backup for him, if not there are alot of players elsewhere in the squad who would be ahead but as a straight swap he is the guy
Right foward
Walcott looks like he will stay for a long time, still got plenty left in him, he will do his thing and Miyachi will hopefully develop into his backup, but more of a winger type, than direct goal threat
Striker
Giroud so far has held down the number 9, a ready made striker to bridge the gap between him and Sanogo and Apkom (who I prefer) until/if they develop
Overall long/medium/short term, I see the following spots as spots or players were we could buy
Up and coming under 18 or so
leftback and centreback
Stopgap
Striker, Keeper, rightback if Berlin is not reay AND Sagna leaves,
centreback if vermealen leaves
Central midfielder if Arteta/Flamini leave
