I think Barca will have a monster attack and the best defense in Europe. The key to this formation is to roll the ball quickly in the legs of one of the 4 ( 5 because Messi is a false 9 ) midfielders.Once one of them can receive the ball the attack starts. The ball needs to be played quickly in triangles made from both midfielders and forwards ( the forwards in this stage will not move from their position) from the midfielders in the opposition half in order to draw defenders out of their position ( they will try to steal the ball ) and allow movement ( now the forwards will need to run instantly at the defense ) of the three forwards to go behind the defense then with one through ball/vertical pass ( good vision is required from the midfielders and Barca midfielders are known for their vision )the forwards can receive and penetrate. By doing this Messi and other forwards will score a lot because they will have more clear-cut chances , and also don't forget the runs and shots he makes by himself . Once Messi starts a run the other forwards and midfielders get ready for walled one-twos or they start movement in the box so they draw defenders away ( or if they don't close them Messi will simply pass them then they will pass him the ball again in the box and he will score ) from Messi -> Messi is going to have more space to run into . Now the defense : Once the opposition steals the ball and starts a counter attack the defensive midfielder will need to drop to the 3 man defense in order to form a line of 4 center backs the other 3 midfielders will need to press them a lot and force them to a mistake or drop back even more ( an upside down triangle will be made in the midfield ), forming a 4-3-3
formation and let the forwards to do the pressing . Very important thing : A lot of pressing is needed here because
the 3-4-3 only forms 3 defenders , so the quicker Barcelona has the ball the better for them . The goalkeeper : Since Baca will play with a high defensive line which is made of 3 center backs it will make a lot of sense for the opposition to make chip balls in this occasion one of the 3 center backs or the defensive midfielder will act as a sweeper and the goalkeeper will need to let his posts and be behind the sweeper so he will act as an another center back again ONLY in THIS occasion. Important things : While the ball is passed to a midfielder seamless move from the others is needed ( midfielders & forwards ) to set up triangles in the outer box not the midfield. In the opposition's transition the midfielders will need to read the game extremely well . Once the ball is won dependent on the time and the way
the game goes barca players will need to either counter attack or hold the ball and bring it quickly in the midfield . Another important thing : The diamond player at the top of the midfield triangle will need in some games to play as
a forward and the formation will need to alter in 3-3-4 in order to open up defenses or get a result
