Beijing aims to control the game through heavy central congestion and high ball recovery using a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the middle of the pitch and use a high press to force turnovers in the opposition half. By crowding the center, Beijing creates a platform to launch attacks quickly once the ball is won.

Fabio Abreu stays between the posts to organize the defense from the back. The defensive unit consists of a narrow back two with Samuel Adegbenro and Cao Yongjing acting as the central defenders. These two must remain compact and step up to engage attackers early. Because there are only two players in the defensive line, they often act as ball playing defenders to start the build up. They must be ready to cover large amounts of space if the high press is bypassed.

The midfield is the heart of this system, featuring a five man unit designed to overwhelm opponents. Zhang Xizhe plays as a deep lying playmaker to recycle possession and distribute the ball. Guga sits alongside him to shield the two center backs and win the second ball. In the advanced areas, Nico Yennaris, Li Lei, and Feng Boxuan occupy the half spaces and central zones. These players work to connect the defense to the front three, with Nico Yennaris looking to drive forward and link the lines.

The attack uses three players across the front to stretch the opposition. Michael Ngadeu operates as a wide winger on the left, while Mamadou Traore stays wide on the right to provide width. Han Jiaqi acts as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and find the feet of the midfielders. The wingers are expected to cut inside to create passing lanes for the midfielders. This setup relies on the forwards to press the opposition back line to prevent them from playing out from the back.

One major advantage of this Beijing formation is the numerical superiority in midfield, which allows the team to dominate the ball. The heavy presence of five players in the center makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the middle. Another strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the front three and the midfield to squeeze the space. This creates many chances to attack in transition before the opposition can get organized.

This formation focuses on central dominance and intense pressure to dictate the tempo of the match. It is best suited for games where Beijing can squeeze the opponent into their own half and exploit gaps in the middle.
