Focusing on high possession and control, Barcelona utilizes a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the ball and control the tempo of the match through short passing and positional dominance. The goal is to keep the ball in advanced areas to pin the opposition back and create constant threats.

In goal, the GK acts as the first point of distribution to build play from the back. The defense operates as a flat back four, where the LB and RB provide width to help the team spread wide. The two central defenders, the LCB and RCB, stay compact to defend zonally and protect the space behind the midfield. When the team pushes high, these defenders must step up to set the offside trap and manage the space between the lines.

The midfield functions as a three-man midfield with a single pivot to anchor the center. The CM acts as the deep-lying playmaker, dropping between the centre-backs to receive the ball and recycle possession. Beside the pivot, the LCM and RCM work to connect the defensive and attacking lines by receiving on the half-turn and moving the ball forward. These players are tasked to press in a mid-block to win the ball back and protect the central zone.

Attacking the opposition involves three forwards working in close combinations. Lewandowski acts as the focal point, using his movement to find space in the box and hold up the ball for others. On the flanks, the LW and Lamine Yamal provide width and depth. Lamine Yamal often cuts inside from the right to create goalscoring chances, while the LW looks to stretch the defence and deliver crosses. This front three works to press the opposition back line to force long balls.

One major advantage for Barcelona is the ability to create numerical superiority in midfield, making it difficult for opponents to intercept passes. The formation also allows for wide overloads when the LB and RB push up to overlap the wingers. This setup helps the team win the second ball in advanced positions and maintains a high level of control.

This 4-3-3 formation provides a way to dominate matches through sustained territorial pressure. It is best suited for games where the club wants to control the rhythm against teams that sit deep.
