High pressure and verticality are the main goals for Catanzaro in a 4-3-3. The team looks to win the ball high up the pitch and break quickly. This lineup is built to stretch the pitch and attack with pace.

Player 1 acts as the goalkeeper. The defensive unit works in a flat back four. Player 2 and player 3 occupy the wide positions. Player 3 will push up as an attacking full back to provide width, while player 2 can overlap to support the attack. In the middle, player 5 and player 4 serve as the central defenders. Player 5 is there to cover the space behind, while player 4 will defend zonally. A compact block helps the unit squeeze the space and hold a high line.

A three-man midfield controls the center of the pitch. Player 6 plays as a single pivot to shield the defense. Within this group, player 8 and player 10 occupy the half-spaces to connect the lines. The pivot will drop between the center backs to receive the ball and help play out from the back. Both interior players are tasked to carry the ball forward and make late runs into the box. They link the defense to the attack by playing through the lines.

Three attackers operate across the front line. Player 9 acts as a lone striker to hold up the ball and lead the press. Player 11 and player 7 operate as wide wingers who want to stretch the defense. To create space, player 11 will often cut inside to allow player 3 to overlap. Player 7 will look to get to the byline and deliver early crosses. These forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opponent.

This formation offers specific tactical advantages. The team can create wide overloads when player 2 or player 3 push up to join the wingers. There is also the ability to press in coordinated waves to win it back high up the pitch. Rapid movement from player 11 and player 7 also helps to isolate wide players in one on one situations.

The 4-3-3 formation allows Catanzaro to maintain high intensity through pressing and width. This lineup is best suited for games against teams that play a high defensive line or struggle to defend in transition.
