Heras (Cárdenas) · Burdisso (Arg) (García) · Gallardo (Arg) (Cuero) · M.Reyes (Cuero) · L.Caicedo (Becerra) · Vega (J.Estacio) · León (Arg) (Sambonino) · Phillips (Pan) (Humanante) · Cuello (Arg) (H.Batalla) · Zicarelli (Arg) (J.Vivar) · Briceño (Bol) (Levato (Arg))Delfín favors a high press to win the ball high up the pitch and looks to strike quickly through the transitions. This 4-3-3 formation is built to play with high energy and directness to unsettle the opposition. The goal is to squeeze the space and use the width of the pitch to stretch the defence before hitting in behind on the transition.
Heras sits between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line operates as a flat back four where M.Reyes acts as a defensive wing back to help cover the flank. Gallardo pushes up the left side to provide width while Burdisso and L.Caicedo form the central pairing. Burdisso acts as a ball playing defender to play short from the back, while L.Caicedo remains central to win the header and clear the lines during aerial duels.
The midfield relies on a single pivot system to manage the center of the pitch. Vega acts as the anchor to shield the defence and protect the back four. To his sides, Phillips and León operate as the two eight roles to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Phillips works to press aggressively to win the ball high, while León seeks to carry the ball forward and find the feet of the striker. This trio aims to compress the midfield and deny the turn to opposing players.
In the final third, the attack utilizes three attackers across the front to create constant threats. Zicarelli and Cuello play as inverted wingers who cut inside to occupy the half spaces, creating room for the full backs to overlap the winger. Briceño acts as the lone striker and a pressing centre-forward to force a long ball from the opposition. The movement is designed to create runs in behind and allow the attackers to combine in tight spaces to break the line.
Delfín gains a tactical advantage through the ability to press high in coordinated waves, putting immediate pressure on the opposition goalkeeper. The formation also creates wide overloads from the movement of the full backs combined with the wingers. This allows the team to switch play quickly and find players in advanced positions.
This 4-3-3 lineup is a high intensity system designed to dominate through verticality and pressing. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
