Starting Lineup

O'Higgins plays with a clear intent to control the middle of the pitch and dominate through numbers, utilizing a 2-5-3 formation. These two must stay close together to cover the space behind the midfield, acting as ball playing defenders who can start attacks. Because the formation relies on such a small defensive base, González and Díaz often need to step up to intercept passes or track runners to prevent direct attacks on goal.

The midfield is the engine room of this O'Higgins side, featuring a massive five man block. Pavez and Retamal work as a double pivot to shield the two defenders and provide a base for the rest of the team. Moving ahead, Leiva and Lugo operate as two central midfielders who connect the deep layers to the attack by carrying the ball forward and recycling possession. Rabello plays as an attacking ten, operating in the pocket to find pockets of space and drive the team toward the final third.

In the attacking phase, the team employs three forwards to pin the opposition back. Mazzola acts as the lone striker, holding up the ball to bring others into play. On the flanks, Vicuña and Tapia act as wide wingers who stretch the defence by staying high and wide.
