Barcelona aims to control the ball through high possession and heavy pressing in a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the ball in the middle third and use short passing to move opponents out of position. The goal is to pin the opposition deep and create scoring chances through constant movement.

Szczesny starts in goal to command the area and play short from the back. The defensive unit works as a flat back four with Kounde acting as a reliable right back who can tuck in to support the center. Martiaez and Cubarsl operate as the central defenders, with Cubarsl looking to play out from the back and Martiaetz providing strength in the air. Balde plays as an attacking full back on the left to provide width, while the defenders work to hold a high line to keep the team compact.

The midfield functions as a three-man midfield with a single pivot role being filled by De Jong. He drops between the centre-backs to receive and acts as the primary carrier to drive the ball forward. Gavi plays as an intense pressing midfielder who works to win the ball high up the pitch and covers large areas of the field. Pedri operates in the half-spaces as an advanced midfielder to connect the lines, using his passing range to split the defence with through balls.

Barcelona uses three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. Raphinha plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside and create numbers in the middle, while Yamal stays wide on the right to isolate defenders in one on one situations. Lewandowski works as a pressing centre-forward, holding up the ball to allow the midfielders to join the attack. The wingers look to get to the byline and cut it back for Lewandowski or the arriving midfielders to finish.

This formation offers significant advantages through numerical superiority in midfield and the ability to press high in coordinated waves. The width provided by Balde and Yamal creates wide overloads that force the opposition to stretch their defensive block. Barcelona also benefits from the speed of transition when Gavi or De Jong win the ball and quickly find the forwards.

The 4-3-3 formation relies on controlling the tempo and squeezing the space in the opponent half. This lineup is best suited for games where the team can dominate possession against a side that sits deep in a low block.
