Norway National Football Team Formation
Starting Lineup
Senna · Voi · Shinra · Renkicito · Akuu · Bosinn · Rundu · Scarz · Blitzz · Goku · MoonNorway aims to be a defensively solid side that relies on quick transitions. They utilize a 5-4-1 formation to maintain a tight block and deny space in the middle. This lineup is built to sit deep, absorb pressure from the opposition, and then break quickly when the opportunity arises.
Senna guards the goal to organize the defensive unit. The team defends in a back five with Rundu sitting in the middle to hold the line. Bosinn and Akuu act as the side centre backs to cover the channels and win the second ball. Shinra and Voi play as attacking wing backs who provide width and push up the pitch when in possession. When the team drops into a low block, Shinra and Voi must track back to form a flat line of five. The central trio of Bosinn, Akuu, and Rundu works to defend zonally and block the runner.
In the middle of the pitch, Renkicito and Blitzz form a double pivot to shield the defence. They work to protect the space in front of the centre backs and intercept passes. Blitzz and Renkicito are responsible for recycling possession and playing short from the back when building out. Scarz and Goku occupy the wide areas of the midfield to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Scarz and Goku can press in a mid block to trigger a press higher up the pitch or drop to help the double pivot. They look to carry the ball forward and find the feet of the striker.
The attacking movement relies on Moon acting as a lone striker. Moon needs to hold up the ball to allow the midfield to push up. Scarz and Goku act as wide players to stretch the defence and create space. When the team transitions, they look to hit in behind on the transition with runs from the wing backs. Voi and Shinra will overlap the winger to deliver crosses into the box. The goal is to create combinations in tight spaces and exploit the gaps left by an advancing opponent.
One major strength of this Norway formation is the compactness when defending. The narrow defensive block makes it difficult for opponents to play through the lines. Another advantage is the ability to switch play quickly once Renkicito or Blitzz wins the ball. By using the width of Shinra and Voi, they can isolate wide players in one on one situations. This makes them very dangerous on the counter at pace.
This formation provides a heavy defensive presence that is hard to break down. It is best suited for matches against teams that dominate possession and leave space behind for a counter attack.
