Starting Lineup

Norway focuses on high intensity and quick transitions using a 2-5-3 formation. The midfield functions as a five man unit that dominates the center of the pitch. Meling and Ryerson play as deep midfielders to shield the two central defenders and provide a screen. Aursnes and Berge work in the half spaces to connect the defense to the attack, with Berge often using his physical presence to win the second ball. Ødegaard operates as the attacking ten, using his exceptional passing range and vision to create chances. He is the main link who finds the feet of the strikers.

Norway uses three attackers to stretch the opposition. Nusa and Bobb act as wide wingers who look to isolate defenders in one on one situations. Haaland operates as a pressing centre-forward, using his movement to pin the last defender and create space for others. The attack is designed to create runs in behind and use the width provided by the wingers to deliver crosses into the box. When the team wins the ball, they look to hit the front three quickly.

This formation offers significant numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch, making it hard for opponents to control the game. The presence of five midfielders allows Norway to squeeze the space and press in a mid block or high up the pitch.
