Starting Lineup

Radomiak aims to play a low block game focused on being defensively solid, utilizing a 5-4-1 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and absorb pressure before looking to break quickly when the opposition leaves space behind. The primary goal is to deny space between the lines and force the opponent into wide areas where they can be crowded out.

The goalkeeper stays between the posts to command the area while the defensive unit operates as a back five. A central defender sits in the middle of the trio to anchor the line, supported by a left centre-back and a right centre-back who cover the space behind the wing backs. The wing backs are tasked with providing width and tracking back to form a five man line when the team is out of possession. This defensive unit works to maintain a narrow block to prevent through balls.

In the middle of the pitch, the four midfielders work to protect the back five and squeeze the space. A central pairing of a right central midfielder and a left central midfielder sits in front of the defence to shield the line and win the second ball. The left midfielder and right midfielder stay wide to help the wing backs and ensure the team stays compact. This midfield group tries to intercept passes and quickly transition the ball from the defensive third to the attacking third.

Radomiak utilizes a lone striker to lead the line. This striker must hold up the ball to allow the midfield to push up and join the attack. The wide midfielders and wing backs provide the width needed to stretch the opposition defence. When the team wins the ball, the attackers look to hit in behind on the transition to catch the opponent out of position. The movement is designed to create runs in behind and allow the midfielders to arrive late into the box.

This formation offers significant compactness when defending, making it hard for opponents to find gaps in the middle. Radomiak can also create wide overloads when the wing backs and wide midfielders combine to move up the pitch. The ability to defend in a narrow block forces the opposition to play wide, which can be exploited through quick transitions.
