Araujo provides recovery speed on the right side to cover any space left by the high line, while Íñigo Martínez holds the left side. The defensive unit works to squeeze the space and force the opponent into long balls that the center backs can intercept.

The midfield works as a double pivot to maintain control and connect the defense to the front line. Marc Casadó sits deeper to shield the defense and recycle possession, while Pedri operates as the primary carrier who drives forward with the ball to break the line. Pedri uses his exceptional passing range to find players between the lines and link the two banks of players. This central pairing must be disciplined to prevent the team from being caught on the break when the full backs push high.

Up front, Barcelona employs two center forwards to pin the last defender and create chaos. Fermín López and Ferrán Torres operate as a partnership, with Fermín López pressing from the front to force mistakes. The width comes from Raphinha on the right and Balde on the left, though Balde often acts as an attacking wing back to provide more presence in the wide areas. Raphinha tends to cut inside to create chances, which allows the forwards to find space in the channels or make runs in behind the defense.

A major advantage of this lineup is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it very difficult for opponents to play out from the back. The team also creates wide overloads by having the wingers and full backs combine to pull the opposition defense apart. This creates many one on one situations for the attackers in the final third.
