Toni and Fermin act as the two eight players, with Toni looking to carry the ball forward and Fermin playing through the lines. This midfield trio works to connect the defensive unit with the attacking unit, ensuring the team can transition from a defensive block into an attacking phase through quick passing.

The attack uses three players across the front line to stretch the defence. Ferran and Bernal play as wide attackers, with Ferran cutting inside and Bernal looking to find space on the flank. Pau acts as the lone striker and stays central to pin the last defender. The attackers are tasked to press from the front to win the ball back high up the pitch. This setup creates many chances for cutbacks and runs in behind through combination play between the wide players and the central striker.

Barcelona gains an advantage through numerical superiority in the midfield. The presence of Torré, Toni, and Fermin allows the team to control the middle of the park and squeeze the space. Additionally, the movement of Martin and Fort allows the team to create wide overloads, which forces the opposition to defend in much larger areas.
